R Madhavan, whose film ‘Rocketry’ recently received a National Award, has been nominated as the President and Chairman of the governing council of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII).
Union Minister Anurag Thakur made the announcement on platform X (previously known as Twitter) and wished the National Award-winning actor well.
“Heartiest congratulations to @ActorMadhavan ji on being nominated as President of @FTIIOfficial and Chairman of the governing council. I’m sure that your vast experience & strong ethics will enrich this institute, bring positive changes, & take it to a higher level. My best wishes to you (sic),” Thakur wrote.

The actor, known for films such as Kannathil Muthamittal, Rang De Basanti, 3 Idiots, and Vikram Vedha, will succeed filmmaker Shekhar Kapur as FTII president.
The National Award For ‘ROCKETRY: THE NAMBI EFFECT’
R Madhavan’s directorial debut, ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect,’ a biographical film based on the life of former ISRO scientist S Nambi Narayanan, won big at the 69th National Film Awards on August 24, following the momentous success of ISRO’s Chandrayaan-3 mission. The actor made the country proud by winning Best Feature Film.
S Nambi Narayanan’s days as a scientist after his study at Princeton University were also addressed in the video.
Sashikanth’s forthcoming film ‘Test,’ directed by R Madhavan, will star R Madhavan. This film is supposed to be set in the realm of cricket, with Madhavan playing the lead.
