Devara Part 1 box office worldwide collection day 3: Jr NTR’s film is world’s 2nd highest grossing film, rockets past Transformers

Koratala Siva’s blockbuster Devara Part 1 has taken off at warp speed, not just in India but across the globe. Starring the unstoppable Jr NTR and the ever-dapper Saif Ali Khan, the action-packed flick smashed opening day records for Indian cinema and kept the cash registers ringing through the weekend. According to Comscore, Devara Part 1 sits comfortably as the world’s second highest-grossing film of the weekend, a mighty feat that leaves even giant robots in the dust. (Sorry, Optimus!)

Devara Part 1, which hit theatres on September 27, collected a whopping ₹172 crore on day one. By the end of its opening weekend, the film grossed an eye-popping $32.93 million ( ₹275 crore) worldwide, putting it right behind The Wild Robot (which made $44 million) and ahead of Hollywood heavyweights like Beetlejuice Beetlejuice ($29 million) and Transformers One ($25 million). Granted, these aren’t their debut weekends, but hey, it’s not every day you see a Tollywood hero outgrossing giant transforming machines.

Devara’s domestic dominance

While box office numbers in India remain as elusive as Saif’s age, one thing is clear: Devara Part 1 is on a roll. The film’s makers are already celebrating, claiming the worldwide earnings will cross ₹300 crore soon, with ₹200 crore coming from the Indian market. Trade trackers like Sacnilk and Comscore, however, are playing it safe, putting the domestic haul at a slightly more modest ₹161 crore for the weekend. On Sunday, the film saw a 5% bump, pulling in ₹40 crore domestically. Monday, though, will reveal if Devara is truly unstoppable or if the box office will take a…transformational dip.
