Discover Effective Portion Control with Mini Meals for Weight Loss

When it comes to weight loss, some individuals believe that skipping meals will do the trick. But that’s not the case, according to nutritionist Anjali Mukerjee. Anjali advocates for a different approach—eating frequent small meals throughout the day to achieve your weight loss goals.

While many weight loss strategies like intermittent fasting and calorie counting exist, experts agree that portion control is one of the most popular and effective methods for maintaining a healthy weight. Portion control means ensuring that you don’t consume excessive amounts of food during each meal, especially when you’re trying to shed those extra pounds.

Anjali points to studies that indicate consuming frequent mini-meals throughout the day can prevent your metabolism from slowing down, reduce hunger pangs, provide optimal nourishment for your body, and positively influence cholesterol and insulin levels. She underlines the significance of portion control by stating, “In the world of nutrition, it is a known fact that you should burn more calories than you consume to lose weight and fat. And how can one achieve this? By portion control and optimal meal frequency.”

Anjali offers a selection of simple mini-meal ideas to incorporate into your weight loss journey:

  • 1 cup of soya milk with almonds.
  • Half a sandwich made with 1 slice of whole wheat bread. Fill it with your choice of ingredients, such as shredded chicken, cucumber, tomato with chutney, or paneer.
  • 1 bowl of moong sprouts with salad.
  • A handful of peanuts along with chana (chickpeas) in a 1:1 ratio.
  • Replace your regular rotis with wheat bran rotis and reduce your intake to half.
  • 1 slice of toast with a 2-egg white omelette or a full egg omelette.
  • Enjoy a piece of fruit, like an apple, orange, sweet lime, 20 cherries, or a bowl of watermelon.
  • A bowl of dal (lentil soup) or curd (yogurt) with salad.

Weight management can be both effective and delicious with the right portion control and mini-meal choices.
