Hollywood Director Brett Ratner Moves to Israel Amid Rape and Sexual Misconduct Allegations

Hollywood director and producer Brett Ratner, who is aiming to make a comeback following allegations of sexual misconduct, has relocated to Israel.

Ratner recently shared an Instagram story featuring the immigrant passbook issued by Israel to new arrivals, which provides tax incentives and other perks. He humorously captioned it in Hebrew as “Brett Shai Ratner.” It appears he has continued to post Instagram stories from Israel, as reported by Walla.

This social media activity followed Ratner’s publication of a photo in which he was seen with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Sara Netanyahu, and pro-Israel figure Alan Dershowitz at the United Nations. Ratner and Dershowitz were special guests of Netanyahu during his address to the UN. Notably, Ratner had previously been a business partner of James Packer, the Australian media mogul with close ties to the Netanyahu family.

Brett Ratner is a well-known Hollywood figure, having directed popular films like the “Rush Hour” series and produced others, including “Horrible Bosses.” However, his career was marred by allegations of sexual harassment and misconduct in the early wave of the “#MeToo” movement in 2017. Although Ratner denied all accusations, major studios severed their connections with him.

In 2021, reports in Hollywood media indicated that Ratner was eager for a comeback and had signed on to direct a biopic about Milli Vanilli, the R&B duo from the early 1990s who famously lip-synced their songs. Opposition from women’s advocacy groups stemming from the #MeToo movement led the production company to cancel the project.

Ratner has long been recognized for his support of Jewish and Israeli causes, receiving honors for his philanthropic and humanitarian efforts.

In a similar vein, Bryan Singer, another director of big-budget films like “X-Men,” who also faced #MeToo allegations, has reportedly been residing in Israel for several years, hoping to revive his career.
