Shah Rukh Khan recently spilled the beans on casting Deepika Padukone in Jawan. He recalls approaching the actress to play Aishwarya Rathore in the Atlee film. Shah Rukh mentioned that he was considering Deepika to play the character from the first day of filming. He also revealed how he came up with the idea while shooting with her for Siddharth Anand’s Pathaan. SRK also said that he initially hesitated to contact Deepika for Jawan due to her hectic schedule, but later decided to work with her.
Jawan’s box office success continues. During this time, Shah Rukh Khan and the cast attended the film’s success news conference in Mumbai. Shah Rukh and Deepika Padukone were seen dancing to the film’s famous musical number Chaleya during the occasion. A fan posted a video from the event to X, and it is now going viral.

Deepika stunned in a black-and-white sari for the occasion. Meanwhile, Anirudh Ravichander, a music composer, was seen singing with rapper Raja Kumari. Nayanthara, the film’s primary lead, was unable to attend the ceremony in Mumbai since she was in Chennai celebrating her mother’s birthday.
Shah Rukh Khan Shared The Back Story
“When Atlee Sir was discussing it, we were lucky because we had managed to get Vijay Sethupathi Sir on board,” Shah Rukh stated at the Jawan Press Meet in Mumbai. “We met him and he was filled with so much love and goodness and he said ‘ya I’ll love to do the film’. We had just gone out for Nayanthara ji’s wedding. And then we are thinking, right from day one, if only we had Deepika in this role (Aishwarya Rathore). I said,”I don’t know sir, she will be busy and I love her too much”. I will never call her for something that doesn’t become an essence for her. After all, she started her career with me”, he further added.

The actor also shared a story about how he thought Deepika should be in the film. He told the media that he considered adding Deepika to the cast of ‘Jawan’ while filming the song ‘Besharam Rang’ from ‘Pathaan’. “I have to tell you how I asked Deepika. It was on the sets of ‘Pathaan’ and that day she was doing ‘Besharam Rang’ and I was sitting. I asked Pooja (Pooja Dadlani, SRK’s manager) ‘ye maa ka role karegi?’ (Will she do the role of a mother?). So, Sir, I am looking at Deepika do ‘Besharam Rang’ and I think she will be very good as a mother. I will be honest with all of you. Pooja must have gone to her for 2 seconds and then comes back and says ‘yeah, whenever you say, just tell Atlee, sir’. I know it was very large-hearted and we are very close to each other. We love each other like family. For her to have done this, as an actor, is very gutsy.”

Previously, in an interview with The Week, Deepika discussed her friendship with Shah Rukh and said that she did not charge a fee for Jawan. She said, “We are each other’s lucky charm. But honestly, we are beyond luck. We have a sense of ownership over each other… I am one of the few people he is vulnerable with. There is so much trust and respect, and I think that luck is just the cherry on the top.”
Deepika’s fifth collaboration with Shah Rukh is Jawan. Om Shanti Om was her first film with him. They have both previously worked for Chennai Express, Happy New Year, and Pathaan.
