By Cillian Murphy, well renowned for his performance in Oppenheimer, recently expressed his love for Christopher Nolan’s 2014 masterwork Interstellar. Murphy, who has worked with Nolan on numerous films since Batman Begins in 2005, has repeatedly demonstrated his acting abilities in films such as The Dark Knight, Inception, The Dark Knight Rises, and Dunkirk.
Cillian was asked in an interview with the British newspaper The Independent if there was a Christopher Nolan film he wished he could have appeared in. The actor named the 2014 space epic, Interstellar, as the film that most impressed him.
Cillian explains how Interstellar influenced him
“I adore Interstellar just because I find it so emotional. I remember seeing it in the cinema when I had little kids. It just had a big impact on me. It broke my heart. I love watching his films when I’m not in them because you don’t have to freak out about the size of your ears, or whatever,” Murphy said.
Murphy also mentioned Dunkirk
Murphy also discussed the conceptual similarities between Interstellar and another Nolan picture, Dunkirk, implying that both films could constitute a compelling double bill alongside his most recent work, Oppenheimer. He emphasized the scientific and physical concepts tackled in Interstellar, making connections with the Dunkirk wartime setting. He indicated that the powerful 2017 military drama could be an excellent pick for those looking for a shorter film.
“You could go Interstellar, which is very… explores similar scientific, physic themes. Or you could watch Dunkirk, which is also set in World War II. Dunkirk is shorter, so that might be a good match ‘cause it’s like an hour-and-a-half, and then you can go into (Oppenheimer),” he added.
