Actress Shilpa Shetty’s husband, businessman Raj Kundra, announced a “separation” via his X account, formerly known as Twitter. He wrote, without providing a clear context, “We have separated and kindly request you to give us time during this difficult period.” While many users of the internet were left to question whether he had actually split up with his wife as a result of his unexpected post, some referred to it as a marketing ploy.
On Instagram Stories, Raj also uploaded a screenshot of the same post. In response to his update, a user asked the following query in the comments section: “Separate means? Divorce?” Another person added, “Sad news, shocking news indeed.” “Is it a movie gimmick?” someone questioned, while another labeled it a “publicity stunt”.
Later, in a post, Raj explained that he had been ‘ separating’ from the masks he had been wearing for the last few months. “Farewell Masks …it’s time to separate now! Thank you for keeping me protected over the last two years. Onto the next phase of my journey,” he wrote.

Raj was arrested and taken to Mumbai’s Arthur Road Jail back in 2021 due to a case. He was imprisoned for roughly 63 days before being released on bail. He has now created the movie UT 69, which details his time spent behind bars. The movie’s trailer was just published, and people seemed to like it. Raj recently discussed his movie and how Shilpa reacted when he told her about the idea. He spoke to News18, “I told her that I have a script and was waiting for her answer. When I turned away from her, a flying chappal came at my face. I think she thought that the idea was a little dicey first. Maybe she thought that the film wouldn’t get made.”
“She was very supportive. She asked me, ‘Tu acting kar lega?’ I told her that I will be able to since I have done some method acting by going to jail,” added Raj. Raj and Shilpa Shetty married in 2009. They have two kids–Viaan and Samisha.
