It appears like Millie Bobby Brown flips the roles in Damsel. In this case, she saves herself instead of being a princess in need of saving.
She avoids flames and battles with swords to defend herself while climbing through icicles and telling an engrossing story of survival, battle, and sacrifice. This damsel takes control of her own destiny as she explores themes of fantasy, action, and adventures.
The film was originally scheduled for release on October 13, 2023, however as of right now, it has been moved to 2024. Netflix recently posted the teaser to its YouTube channel, and it has received 2.8 million views and 56 thousand likes. It’s hardly a fairy tale, folks. “This is NOT a fairytale. Millie Bobby Brown stars in Damsel. Only on Netflix 20,” captioned the streaming giant.
Director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo and writer Dan Mazeau’s Damsel follows Princess Elodie, who is about to wed a charming prince. But when she finds out that she’s being used by the royal family as a sacrifice to settle a long-standing debt that demands her to fight off a threat, the alluring dream swiftly transforms into a terrifying reality.
“For generations, it has been our task to protect our people. So tonight, you join a long line of women who have helped to build this kingdom. The price is dear, but so too the reward”
The film synopsis reads: “A young woman agrees to marry a handsome prince — only to discover it was all a trap. She is thrown into a cave with a fire-breathing dragon and must rely solely on her wits and will to survive.”
Damsel claims of having a large, brilliant cast. Nick Robinson plays Millie’s betrothed, Prince Henry, Elodie’s partner. Ricky Guillart as Sir Oded, Ray Winstone as the King, and Brooke Carter as the younger sister of Prince Henry. As Lady Bayford and Queen Isabelle, Angela Bassett and Robin Wright excel. Shoreh Aghdashloo, Sam Sharma, Sonya Nisa, Erickson Santos Gomes, Elmano Sancho, and Saif Mohsen are further talents in the crown.
